CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Makeup for the Stage

    Students in this class will learn makeup for the stage using a host of different character looks. Each week will introduce a different skill or character look until students will premier their character makeup at the Final Showcase.

    There is a $5 supply fee added to this class

  • Creating Characters for the Stage

    In this class students will learn a variety of acting techniques to help them develop and play characters on stage. Using scenes and monologues students will learn a character role, rehearse and perform a small part of the show.

  • Voice for Musical Theatre

    This class will focus on developing students to land those leading roles! Students will focus on their vocal and acting abilities to help them understand what it means to tell the story of a song. These pieces will be performed at the end of class.

  • Private Lessons

    Whether you’re looking to further develop your craft, work on a specific piece or character, develop your film reel, prepare for your college audition or polish your audition skills we are now offering individualized coaching! Coaching is also a great option for students who have taken several of our classes and are ready to improve their skills.

    One 30 minute session is $30
    Package of 4 sessions is $100

MEET THE TEACHERS

  • Orli Resnik

    Orli Resnik (she/her) is currently pursuing her degrees in both Dance and Psychology at the University of New Mexico. She has been dancing for 16 years and has trained in ballet, modern, hip hop, jazz, vogue, and wheelchair technique dance styles. She is passionate about creating truly inclusive and fun environments for all.

  • Somer Sloan Corey

    Somer Sloan Corey (she/her) is the founder & Artistic Director of Heartstrings. She’s been involved in all aspects of theater for over twenty years. From acting in Chicago, to voiceovers in Lincoln, to choreographing, teaching & assistant directing in Nebraska, Florida & Illinois and now, Somer is excited to bring her experience back to her roots! Somer trained at the Johnny Carson School of the Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska & has been performing, choreographing, & directing ever since.

  • Shen Telles

    Shen Telles (they/them) has been involved in the theatre world for twenty years and a theatre professional for eight. They received a Bachelor of Arts with emphases in Performance and Costume Design in 2015 and received certification in Special Effects Makeup in 2020. Their love for theatre began in the fifth grade while performing in a school play and, from that moment forward, they knew this was what they wanted to do with their life. Shen loves nothing more than to bring that same joy and self expression they themselves found in theatre to the next generation of artists.

  • Tatyana Smith

    Tatyana Smith (she/her) Tatyana Smith is a dedicated General Music Teacher at Mission Avenue Elementary, where she brings passion, expertise, and a deep commitment to nurturing young musicians. She earned her degree in Music Education with a concentration in Vocal Music from Alabama A&M University, where she developed a strong foundation in both music theory and performance.

    A classically trained vocalist with a specialization in opera, Ms. Smith combines technical proficiency with an expressive performance style. Her lifelong love of musical theatre has led her to star in numerous theatrical productions, enriching her understanding of the stage and further informing her dynamic approach to teaching.

    Ms. Smith is deeply passionate about working with young voices, striving to inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music in each of her students. Through her work, she continues to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and musically enriching environment that empowers the next generation of performers and music lovers.
