This girl-loves-ghoul rock 'n' roll Off Broadway musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.
SEEKING: Strong actors, singers, and dancers who are 12 or older! We welcome all abilities, regardless of race, gender (conforming and non-conforming), religion, sexual orientation, body type and/or size, disability, and/or personal background.
Every student who auditions will be cast in this production!
There are THREE options for students auditioning for Zombie Prom:
2pm-5pm on Saturday, November 7th, 2pm-5pm on Sunday, November 8th, OR virtual submissions may be sent to zombie@heartstringstheatre.com by no later than 6pm on November 8th
Our initial audition days will include a group dance combo starting promptly at 2pm! Please plan to be at the dance audition on either Saturday or Sunday right at 2, since this will be the one hour our choreographer has to teach the dance combination to everyone before everyone will perform it in groups on Tuesday, November 10th at callbacks!
After dance, vocal auditions will begin at 3pm with 5 minute time slots you can pick from below! Please come prepared with a song of your choice. There will not be an accompanist provided. Performers are welcome to sing with tracks or acapella! If choosing to sing with tracks, please send those to zombie@heartstringstheatre.com prior to your selected audition time.
*Keep in mind: this musical is not full of modern musical theater stylings. It is highly recommended for auditionees to select something with that in mind, either to reflect the 50s time period or the rock style of music throughout the show!
