A native New Mexican (but well versed in moving!), Somer Sloan Corey has lived all over North America and been involved in all aspects of theater for over 20 years. From acting in Chicago, to voice over work in Lincoln to Choreographing, teaching and Assistant Directing in Nebraska, Florida and Illinois, she is excited to bring her experiences back to her roots (New Mexico). Somer trained at the Johnny Carson School of the Arts in Lincoln Nebraska and has been performing, choreographing and directing ever since. Her children’s theater has won two awards for being the Top Five Best Theaters in Albuquerque. She is passionate about the art of story telling, it’s ability to change the world and the deep belief theater is for ALL people and needs to be treated as such.

Amy Lynne Hillard has been around theatre for essentially her entire life. After years spent both on and off the stage, she realized her true passion in theatre came from the story! Writing and directing left Amy feeling so inspired that she pursued a Creative Writing degree at the University of Toledo. Heartstrings has allowed Amy to get back to her roots of children’s theatre and she is beyond excited to see what comes next!

Derrick Sloan has done stand up in Austin and Albuquerque. He’s acted in several short films and trained vocally as well. He starred in our 2022 production of Holes and is excited to bring his expertise to Heartstrings.
